INS Kavaratti, an anti-submarine warfare ship [ALL]:
INS Kavaratti launched at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE), Kolkata.
Kavaratti is the last of the four anti-submarine warfare class stealth corvettes built under Project 28.
What is Project-28: Four anti-submarine warfare class stealth corvettes were to build under this project. These are INS Kamrota, Kadmatt and Kiltan Kavaratti.
Maria Elena South, driest place on earth discovered [ALL]:
Scientists have discovered the driest location on Earth in the Atacama Desert in Chile and is called as Maria Elena South (MES).
Earlier, Yungay region in Atacama desert was called as driest area of the Earth. However, MES is much drier than Yungay.
Delhi Government set to launch Pay & Play Scheme to promote sports [All]:
The scheme will help to promote sports for all age groups in the national capital.
The scheme would begin from 1st July 2015.
These facilities would be free of cost for school students and disabled persons.
Under this scheme, people can play game available within the stadiums and complexes by paying a nominal fee of 100 rupees per month.
The state government has also ordered opening up of several stadiums and sports complexes.
Delhi Government has also decided that citizens will have access to government schools for sports promotion.
