HIMACHAL PRADESH ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES COMBINED COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION-2014

H.P.P.S.C has published the notification of the Himachal Pradesh ADMINISTRATIVE Services Examination-2014. The details of the notification are as follows:

1. Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services, Class-I (Gazetted) – Four vacancies

    Pay  scale of Rs.15600-39100 + 5400 (Grade Pay).

    SC- 01, Ex-Servicemen  -01 , General -02

2.  Himachal Pradesh Police Services, Class-I (Gazetted)- Five vacancies

     Payscale of Rs. 15600-39100+5400(Grade Pay).

     Ex-Servicemen  -01 , General -04

3.  Tehsildar Class –I (Gazetted)- Five vacancies

     Pay scale of Rs.10300- 34800+5000 (Grade Pay).

     ST- 01,  General -04

4.  Block Development Officers, Class –I (Gazetted) – Eight vacancies

     Pay scale of Rs. 10300-34800 + 5000 (Grade Pay).

     SC- 02, General -06

5.  District Treasury Officer, Class-1(Gazetted) – Two vacancies

     Pay scale of Rs.15600-39100+5400 Grade Pay.

     SC- 01, General -01

6.  Excise and Taxation Officer, Class-I (Gazetted) – Six vacancies

     Pay scale of Rs. 10300-34800+5000/-Grade pay.

     OBC- 01, Ex-Servicemen  -01 , General -04

Total Vacancies – 30

Age Limits :

•  A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have
  attained the age of 35 years on the first January- 2015.

• The upper age limit is relaxable by five years for
  candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/ Other
  Backward Classes / Persons with disabilities and Children/Grand
  Children of Freedom Fighters of Himachal Pradesh as declared by the
  Govt. from time to time. Age relaxation is also available to Ex-servicemen
  candidates of H.P. as per provisions in Rules/ Instructions
  of H.P. Govt.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION for HPAS:

Three Stages :

1. HPAS Preliminary Examination
2. HPAS Mains Examination
3. HPAS Interview

Preliminary examination:

The first stage Himachal Pradesh administrative services examination will consist of 02 papers. Both the Papers will have Objective type(multiple choices) questions on the following pattern:

• Paper-I – General Studies:

Paper 1 – 200 marks having 100 objective type (Multiple choices) questions.

• Paper-II Aptitude Test:

Paper 2 – 200 marks and having 100 objective type (Multiple choices) questions.

Main Written Examination

a) Only those  candidates who are declared qualified in the Preliminary examination will be entitled for admission to the Main written examination of the Himachal Pradesh administrative services examination,
b) The number of candidates to be called for Main written examination will be
about 20 times of the total number of vacancies to be filled in on the basis of
aforementioned examination.
c) The candidates, who qualify the Preliminary examination, will have to
download the application form for Main examination from the above
website. No separate call letters will be sent for Main examination.

Viva-Voce

• The number of candidates to be called for viva-voce test after the Main written examination by the Commission shall be at its discretion on the basis of marks obtained by them in the Main written examination only. As far as possible this number will be three times the total number of vacancies.

NOTE: Marks obtained by the candidates in the Preliminary examination will not be counted for the purpose of final order of merit of the Himachal Pradesh administrative services examination. However, marks obtained in the Main written examination as well as in the viva-voce test would determine their final merit for selection in the Himachal Pradesh administrative services examination.

Syllabus for HPAS Preliminary exam :

Paper-I  – General Studies

 History, geography, political, art & culture and socio-
economic development of Himachal Pradesh.
 Current events of national and international importance.
 History of India and Indian national movement.
 Indian and World Geography-physical, social, economic
geography of India and the world.
 Indian polity and governance –Constitution, political
system, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc.
 Economic and social development – sustainable
development poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector
initiatives, etc.
 General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and
climate Change – that do not require subject specialization
 General science.

Paper-II Aptitude Test

 Comprehension
 Interpersonal skills including communication skills
 Logical reasoning and analytical ability
 Decision making and problem solving
 General mental ability
 Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of
magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts,
graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level).
 English Language comprehension skills (Class X level)

 Note:  Candidates not belonging to Himachal Pradesh are also eligible to appear for this recruitment.
