HPAS Prelims Syllabus For General Studies and Aptitude Test:
This Article discusses the HPAS Prelims Syllabus (Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services Preliminary Exam syllabus) which is followed by HPPSC at present. The HPAS Preliminary exam conducted by HPPSC has two papers. Paper 1 is the General Studies and Paper 2 is the Aptitude test each having 200 marks. Both papers are conducted by HPPSC at various centres in Himachal Pradesh on the same day in two shifts.
The total marks for the HPAS Prelims is 400 marks. Below is given the HPAS Prelims Syllabus for both General Studies (Paper 1) and Aptitude Test (Paper 2) as given in the current HPPSC – HPAS exam notification.

HPAS Prelims Syllabus for General Studies (Paper 1):
Duration of Exam: 2 Hrs.
Total Marks: 200
Total Questions: 100(Objective Type)
Syllabus:
- History, geography, political, art & culture and socio economic development of Himachal Pradesh.
- Current events of national and international importance.
- History of India and Indian national movement.
- Indian and World Geography-physical,social, economic geography of India and the world.
- Indian polity and governance –Constitution, political system, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc.
- Economic and social development – sustainable development poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector
initiatives, etc. - General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate Change –that do not require subject specialization.
- General science
HPAS Prelims Syllabus for Aptitude Test / CSAT (Paper 2):
Duration of Exam: 2 Hrs.
Total Marks: 200
Total Questions: 100 (Objective Type)
Syllabus:
- Comprehension
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability
- Decision making and problem solving
- General mental ability
- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level)
- Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level).
- English Language comprehension skills (Class X level).
