The state of Himachal Pradesh has received Rs 1,660 crore pending funds under Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority Act (CAMPA) from the Union Government. These funds will be spent on various forestry activities in the state.
The government of Himachal Pradesh has requested the Union Government to bring the state of HP under Regional Office, Chandigarh of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change instead of Regional Office Dehradun for according forest clearance under Forests Clearances Act, 1980 to expedite approvals.
About CAMPA:
Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority Act aims to provide an appropriate institutional mechanism, both at the Centre and in each State and Union Territory, to promote afforestation and regeneration activities as a way of compensating for forest land diverted to non-forest uses.
