The Himachal Pradesh Minister of Forest, Govind Simgh Thakur, launched the Waste -to – taste cafe scheme in Kullu. The cafe will be managed by Kullu Municipal Corporation and would be open to public.

Residents can give glass l, e- waste or plastic to authority at a particular place and get a coupon in return to buy a meal. Residents can have coffee, ice- cream, pizza and burger. The minister appealed to all residents to come forward to deposit the garbage and contributor to make the town clean.

Since the order of the National Green Tribunal which ordered the closure of dumping sites which were polluting the Beas river, Kullu had been facing garbage disposal issues. This led to the stopping of the door to door garbage collection and people started throwing garbage everywhere.
